This article is devoted to the analysis of the role of social capital in the context of the labor market. The paper examines the conceptual apparatus and basic approaches to understanding the essence, features and functions of social capital. The article explores the influence of social capital on the labor market. Particular attention is paid to the study of networks of social connections that form social capital in the labor market in accordance with network theory.

The offered recommendations, submitted to alignment of competitive positions of regional higher education institutions are addressed to the representatives of the regional and federal authorities, the analysts and the researchers of labor markets and higher education.
