«The role of the native language in learning English»

This article is devoted to the using the first language in learning English. In the article, the author suggests two principles that should be considered whenever teachers face a problem in teaching English. The first principle is that, as a matter of professional pride, teachers should try to solve classroom problems through the application of pedagogical skills rather than through administrative or disciplinary procedures. The second principle is that most problems have a variety of causes, which to some degree reflect the variety of individuals in a class. There is, thus, likely to be a variety of solutions, and so a teacher may need to put together a package of complementary solutions rather than just try one possible solution.

«Actualization of the ideas of narrative pedagogy in the conditions of personality-oriented education of higher school»

The author has noted that the main goal of personally-oriented education is a holistic personality development and formation of personal self-reflection and process actualization of personal development. Formed theoretical and methodological grounds of the indicated project are not always supported by specific methods and strategies for their implementation in practice in terms of higher education. An effective tool in this situation can become narrative approach, which is being actively developed in foreign pedagogy. The narrative approach combines the ideas of social constructionism, phenomenological pedagogy and hermeneutics texts. A full assessment of the narrative approach is possible only in terms of its practical implementation.

The work system allows keeping careful attitude towards the child’s inner world and the wideness of their individuality, as well as agreement between external and internal factors of their personality development. The teacher aligns the pupil’s zone of proximal development and advance in the topic. Structure of education process principally affects the pupil’s position. The pupil actively participates in every step of education, and freedom of choice makes education conscious, productive and more effective. Results of such changes in the pupils’ activities are as follows: the motivation becomes higher and results in higher quality of knowledge; high level of cognitive independence; proactive attitude to all spheres of social school life; well-formed communicative competences; successful formation of personality qualities; 100% proficiency during the whole period; participation and wins in city, regional, and national school competitions and in regional and national intellectual marathons.

«To the question of the realization of practice-oriented approach at technical university»

The article deals with the practice-oriented approach during the teaching of Russian students of technical university. Relevance of the practice oriented approach in training of students of the technical higher education institution is proved in the article, the essence of this approach is defined. The possibilities of the educational process to realize the practice oriented approach are presented. The author focuses on the organization of practice for student which provides interrelation of theoretical and practical training of future professional staff; presents the statements which must be taken into consideration when determining the content of practical foreign lessons. The types of practical tasks are considered which are beneficial in realization of the practice oriented approach.
